The Jumpsuit Guide

When I think of summer, I imagine a closet full of no-fuss, easy pieces to throw on and feel beautiful yet comfortable in the heat. The jumpsuit is perfect for so many warm weather occasions and an easy packing solution when traveling on your summer vacation. Now that jumpsuits have gained popularity, there are so many silhouettes and patterns to choose from. Here are three of my favorite jumpsuits this season along with the body type they flatter most, and accessory options for each one.

This option is full of possibility: the neutral color creates compatibility with any color and pattern, and a strapless neckline creates the perfect canvas for a statement necklace or vest. This silhouette compliments a petite frame and those looking to show off shoulders. Dress it up for date night with slinky heels and a metallic bag, or keep it casual during the day with a denim vest and bold bandana.

I love this jumpsuit because it provides more sleeve coverage and a flattering pattern, making it appropriate for work or weekend errands.  I have a pear shape and have always been self-conscious of my bottom half in jumpsuits because they lack the structure of a trouser or jean. BUT! A small scale pattern like this creates the perfect camouflage to compliment any shape or size. (Note: the scale of the print can make all of the difference in the world. If you’re petite, opt for a smaller scale print.)

What caught my eye about this jumpsuit was the cutout neckline and the zipper detail down the front. Any body type can rock this suit because it provides more coverage across the neckline and the centered zipper elongates down the front.  No need for a big necklace; your dainty gold accessories will compliment the subtle cutout neckline. I like mostly neutrals with this suit, but you can amp up the drama at night with a classic red nail and fitted blazer. My favorite look in this collection is #3, which I would totally rock on a sunny Saturday outdoors or on an errand run around town.

I hope this inspires you to pick up a jumpsuit (or three) this summer, and discover all the possibilities of looking chic while staying cool!

Generally, I wouldn’t think of a jumpsuit as something that would suit me but I really like the patterned one! Maybe it’s time to step out of my box?

Nice to “meet” you at the Alt on Topic workshop!
