GOALS: AN UPDATE

life

Earlier, I listed a few goals that I wanted to work on this year. In an effort to hold myself accountable, I thought I’d share a quick update…

VolunteerTruth be told, I’d adopt 27 puppies tomorrow if I could stay home with them all day and just cuddle in their cuteness. But, a girl’s got bills to pay, and my 8-5 work schedule wouldn’t be fair to a dog. I’m hoping to spend my evenings and/or weekends giving back to animals in some way. Update: Well, I applied to volunteer with two different animal rescue organizations, but have yet to help. I spoke to their representatives, both of whom assured me they needed people like crazy, but so far, no one has asked me to do anything. I’ve considered moving on to another cause, but I’m going to keep trying to help animals. I just don’t feel as passionate about any other cause, and I want to be a part of something I wholeheartedly believe in.

Take a fitness classI am without a doubt the least athletic person I know. But, I have to do something to take care of myself and I figure a weekly yoga or barre class will not only motivate me to work out more, it will force me outside of my comfort zone, which is always a good thing. Update: Nope. I haven’t taken a class yet, BUT I’ve been amping up my game when it comes to walking. I have a huge neighborhood to explore and I love to walk in the evenings during the week, and even more on the weekends. The warm weather makes me want to spend as much time as possible outdoors, and unlike the elliptical machine at the gym, I look forward to going for walks.

TravelI have so many places I want to visit! I’ve been feeling held back because I’ve never traveled alone, but I’m going to push that uncomfortable feeling out of the way and just do it. There’s no time like the present, and I don’t want to wait around forever wishing I had seen the sites. Update: Last month I took a day trip to Thomasville, GA,  and a few weeks ago, I spontaneously drove up to Savannah for the day, and last weekend I spent the day in St. Petersburg, FL. I’m also entertaining the idea of a bigger trip next year, but nothing is set in stone yet. Near or far, traveling on the weekends really lifts me up. It’s good for the soul, yah know?

Find a job I loveI’m so grateful to have the job that I do now, but I still have a passion for all things creative. While I’m not sure what exactly I want to do, the exploration part of this journey is exciting. My goal this month is to overhaul my resume and look for classes that further my knowledge in design. Update: Well, I’ve made a huge leap and I’m going back to school, this time for graphic design. I’m REALLY nervous about so many things that go along with working full-time and taking classes, but I want to work in a creative field that I’m passionate about, and this is the path to get there. I begin next month and I’m SO excited to do this, it’s been a long time coming. My presence here on the blog will most likely decrease, but I’m hoping to show off some of my work here when I get a chance.

So, there’s definitely room for improvement, but I’m getting there. Keep you posted! Xx
