Friday Fact: Mise En Place

Mise en place is a French term literally translated to “put in place”. It is a cooking technique referring to the preparation of a dish’s ingredients prior to cooking. Chopping, slicing, washing, and measuring should be completed before beginning the recipe’s instructions.

For a novice cook like myself, I feel so much more organized when I have all of my ingredients prepped and within arm’s reach. Have you tried this technique? or will you give a whirl when preparing your next meal?
