the first beach day

May 28, 2014

holiday / travel / weekend

There’s something about the first beach day of the season: anticipation mixed with sunscreen, I think. This weekend we headed over to Destin to visit my boyfriend’s family and soak in the sun on the beach. Last summer I let the days get away from me without going to the beach once, so when we walked up to the crystal clear water and white powder sand, I immediately felt relaxed and giddy at the same time. Being near the ocean puts everything into perspective, and I’m so glad we were able to enjoy each others’ company over the long weekend. Here are some highlights from the day…

There’s something about business cards that makes SHINY | PRETTY | HAPPY feel more… “official”, so I’m thrilled to show off my new cards from Minted! I’ve admired Minted’s designs for years and have loved ordering my Christmas cards from them in the past. So, when I needed business cards for an upcoming trip, they were the first place I looked. What I love about Minted is their consistency in product quality and customer service, as well as their beautiful, customizable designs.

my signature shade

beauty / style

Do you have a go-to beauty product? Mine is this shade of Essie nail polish. It’s neutral but still pink enough to add a girly shine to my nails. I wear it year round but especially love the contrast of the almost white color against my tan skin in the summer. I’ve adopted it as my signature shade because I’ve worn it for years and consider it a must in my beauty arsenal. Click through to learn more.

The Jumpsuit Guide

When I think of summer, I imagine a closet full of no-fuss, easy pieces to throw on and feel beautiful yet comfortable in the heat. The jumpsuit is perfect for so many warm weather occasions and an easy packing solution when traveling on your summer vacation. Now that jumpsuits have gained popularity, there are so many silhouettes and patterns to choose from. Here are three of my favorite jumpsuits this season along with the body type they flatter most, and accessory options for each one.

Versailles

Versailles has been on my bucket list for awhile. I’m in love with the French Revolution and Marie Antoinette and all things Rococo. So when I knew I was going to Paris, I set aside a whole day to explore the beautiful historic playground of France’s most famous. I took so many photos! I think my favorite part of the day was walking the grounds from the chateau to the Petit Trianon and Grand Trianon. We got there early so it felt like we had all of Versailles to ourselves.

Happy Mother’s Day Weekend! I’m traveling to Orlando this weekend to spend Mother’s Day with my mom and sister. As cliche as it may sound, my mom has always been my best friend, and so I’m delighted to spend the weekend with her just relaxing and, of course, laughing. I hope you have a fantastic weekend celebrating motherhood wherever you are! Here’s the roundup…

Last weekend, we traveled back to Wakulla County for the Panacea Blue Crab Festival. Honestly, I had been looking forward to this for weeks. Come summer, I live off of seafood and frozen yogurt, so this sounded like the perfect opportunity to dive right in.  The weather was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the people-watching was interesting. All in all, it was a nice little adventure for a Saturday. Here are the highlights..
